Another stunning wine from Torrin.  Still a bit young but starting to show some development especially with a few hours in a decanter.  This is 50% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre and 24% Grenache.  Inky purple in color.  The nose is great with a  meatiness reminiscent of the northern Rhone but vibrant fruit that says California sunshine.  There is also some black pepper, plums and slight floral notes.  On the palate, this has a great texture.  Black raspberry fruit intertwines with black pepper over a smoke and earth base.  It is pretty big right now with firm tannins.  This should continue to develop for another five to ten years and be good for a decade after that.  If you like big wines, its fine to drink now.  It will take hearty foods; grilled or roasted meats or veggies. Nothing delicate.

The 2014 The Banshee comes from two sites (Torrin and Kruse Vineyards) and checks in as a blend of 50% Syrah, 26% Mourvèdre and 24% Grenache aged 18 months in 300- and 400-liter puncheons. It offers lots of peppery herbs and earthy dark fruits, full-bodied richness, lots of meatiness, ripe, polished tannin and a great finish. It's a big, balanced, straight up terrific red that's going to drink nicely for over a decade.

Inky ruby. Smoke- and spice-tinged black and blue fruits and a hint of cola on the explosively perfumed nose. Sweet, densely packed cherry, boysenberry and spicecake flavors are lifted and sharpened by a core of juicy acidity. Gains energy with air and finishes chewy and extremely long, featuring an emphatic echo of blue fruit and dusty, slow-building tannins. Drink 2022-2030.
