Although the growing season was cooler than average, heat spells in September gave the fruit its last push towards perfection. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is pure and edgy. It is a complex and dark-fruited wine with notes of baking spices and nuances of clean forest floor on the nose. The middle of the wine is bold and filled with flavors of plum, mocha and dark cherries. Fine tannins elongate the wine's protracted finish.
We chose to bottle only wines harvested before the historic California wildfires of October, 2017; therefore none of our wines were exposed to smoke.

Jeb Dunnuck: 95 Points
Starting with the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (92% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc), it has a vibrant purple color as well as a great nose of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with lots of spice, spring flowers, chocolate, and forest floor. It’s not a blockbuster, but it’s just seamless, gorgeously textured, and a stunning value.
James Suckling: 93 Points
Attractive, ripe blackberries and cassis here in a vibrant, fresh mode. The palate has a very succulent feel with such fleshy, rich blueberries and blackberries, cast in long, silky tannins. Impressive young cabernet. Drink or hold.
Wine Advocate: 92-94 Points
A barrel sample blended of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color and very perfumed with blackberries, cassis and fragrant soil with wafts of lavender and roses. The palate is full, firm and grainy with great freshness and loads of red and black fruit layers on the finish.
